CriticalBlue's Cascade Wins Wireless Systems Design's Best Wireless Design Tool for 2004

Edinburgh, Scotland – April 6, 2004 - CriticalBlue, a start-up focused on delivering tools for accelerating software in embedded microprocessor applications has announced that its Cascade tool has received the Wireless Systems Design 2004 Industry Award: Best Wireless Design Tool. Nominations were open to the public, although final voting was limited to the members of the 2004 Advisory Board Committee (www.wsdexpo.com/advisory.htm).

"We are delighted that the Cascade co-processor synthesis tool has been recognized in this way," said David Stewart , CEO, CriticalBlue. "CriticalBlue's Cascade tool is pioneering technology that accelerates embedded software applications by providing a seamless and direct migration path from software to an automatically generated hardware co-processor. The Wireless System Design Best Design Tool Award for 2004 is positive confirmation that our technology delivers significant value in a dynamic and growing market sector."

"The Wireless System Design Awards are a means of honoring those product and technology developments that show significantly differentiated levels of innovation and specific applicability in the wireless domain," said Cheryl Ajluni, Editor in Chief, Wireless System Design. "CriticalBlue's Cascade Technology was put forward by our Editor John Blyler, and stood apart from its contemporaries in a very competitive field. We look forward to reporting on the successful deployment of this elegant solution within the wireless industry".

About Cascade Tool Suite

Cascade Tool Suite is a co-processor design tool that accelerates embedded software by enabling users to offload functions from the main processor onto an hardware co-processor, which the tool generates and optimizes. This delivers an automated migration path from embedded software directly to hardware, allowing reuse of existing embedded software, and resulting in faster and lower risk product development timelines. Cascade works from the object code of the main system processor and is architected to integrate with standard 3 rd party tools which make up the embedded software, system level, and hardware implementation flows.

About CriticalBlue

CriticalBlue is focused on delivering tools for accelerating software in embedded microprocessor applications to key design houses and semiconductor vendors in the telecommunication, automotive and multimedia industries. The Cascade tool suite provides a broader range of implementation options within existing electronic design flows, as well as minimizing risk and development time. This is achieved by analyzing application software and automatically generating an appropriate co-processor, designed to accelerate tasks written for a general-purpose microprocessor.

CriticalBlue is headquartered in The Scottish Microelectronics Centre, West Mains Road, Edinburgh EH9 3JF, United Kingdom. For more information, visit www.criticalblue.com.

About Wireless System Design and Wireless Systems 2004

Wireless Systems Design reports on advances in the field of wireless technology. The magazine focuses on the practical applications of new and emerging wireless communication technologies. A sponsor of the Wireless Systems Design Conference & Expo , the conference targets a broad spectrum of wireless technology: from a systems level perspective, encompassing both the hardware and software aspects that are crucial to the success of any wireless device today. While the software aspect of the show includes both embedded and application level software, the key defining criteria of the software covered at this event is that it must define how the hardware in a particular wireless application will function.
