About the Contributors
David Stewart, Founder & CEO
David has over 20 years experience in the EDA and semiconductor industries. This includes 10 years at Cadence where he was as a founder and Business Development Director of the System-on-Chip (SoC) Design facility at the Alba Campus in Scotland. This initiative attracted worldwide interest and the Design Centre grew to 200+ people in its first 18 months. Before Cadence he was a chip designer, with spells at LSI Logic, NEC Electronics and National Semiconductor. David has served on the board of several technology startups and one venture capital firm.
Richard Taylor, Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Richard has significant experience in leading engineering groups in system, silicon and software design. Richard has a technical specialization in compiler technology and processor micro-architecture. He spent a number of years developing advanced code generation and code optimisation techniques for a range of microprocessor architectures before co-founding CriticalBlue to exploit new innovations in processor micro-architecture and code compilation techniques.
Skip Hovsmith, Director Applications Engineering, USA
Skip has significant experience working on accelerating embedded software through synthesis of programmable multicore processors for structured ASICs, SoCs, and FPGAs. Prior to CriticalBlue, Skip worked for several start ups in formal verification, FPGA design, and enterprise software services, and at National Semiconductor working on virtual prototyping, hw/sw co-design, reconfigurable systems, and standard cell product design. Skip received his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University with a focus in Engineering Physics, and he holds several patents.
Barry O’Rourke, Principal Application Engineer (Europe)
Barry has been involved with designing and programing processor based systems for over 10 years. Currently he spends his time helping customers integrate CriticalBlue technologies into their product designs and wider design flow. Prior to CriticalBlue, Barry worked on high performance graphics processor design at Imagination Technologies and then on modeling multiprocessor automotive systems at Cadence. Barry holds an Honors degree in Computer Science and Electronics from the University of Edinburgh.
